Amy A. Yasko Ph.D., ND, NHD, AMD, HHP, FAAIM, has extensive expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology. She also has research and clinical experience in both allopathic and alternative medicine. The common thread that winds through these fields is her work with RNA.
As co-founder and owner of a successful biotechnology company, she is recognized as an expert in the field of DNA/RNA based diagnostics and therapeutics and has been a consultant to the medical and research community for eighteen years. More than twenty years ago she began isolating single copy RNA messages from transformed cells at Strong Memorial Hospital Cancer Center. Later, while at Yale Medical Center, she worked to enhance the expression of specific eukaryotic RNAs from yeast.
During her tenure at St. Vincent’s Hospital in NYC, Dr. Yasko developed custom diets and used nutritional supplements to improve the cure rates of Hodgkin’s disease patients. She worked with Dr. Lawrence to isolate some of the first clinical samples of Transfer Factor for use in these patients. She then went on to conduct molecular research on Transfer Factor in Dr. Fudenburg's Immunology Dept. at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Yasko was also a member of the Dept. of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at Strong Memorial Hospital and worked to develop safer Haemophilus influenza vaccines. She has also spent years studying the relationship between energy transport and modes of antibiotic resistance by bacteria and has written articles and chapters in books on the subject.
Five years ago, Dr. Yasko established an alternative healthcare practice specializing in chronic inflammation, immunological and neurological disorders. To date, she has had considerable success in halting and in most cases reversing the effects of such debilitating diseases from which her clients suffer, such as ALS, MS, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and autism. Most recently her primary focus has been to construct a program to reverse autism.
Dr. Yasko graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Chemistry and Fine Arts from Colgate University. She then completed her medical education at Albany Medical College and received a Doctorate in Microbiology, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases with an award for outstanding academic excellence, graduating summa cum laude. She was the first woman in that department to receive a Doctorate in this field. Dr. Yasko continued her education to graduate with high honors from the Clayton College of Natural Health, receiving two additional degrees, a Doctor of Naturopathy and a Doctor of Natural Health. She is licensed as a Naturopathic Physician and board certified as an Alternative Medical Doctor, a Holistic Health Practitioner and is a Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Yasko is a member of the scientific advisory board for NFAM (National Foundation of Alternative Medicine). It was as a member of this board that Dr. Yasko had the opportunity to meet Dr. Garry Gordon, another NFAM board member. Dr. Gordon and Dr. Yasko’s mutual interest in the use of RNA as nutritional supplements has led to a number of collaborative efforts including a book on autism.
