The attendees and the exhibitors greatly appreciated the quality time they got to spend with professionals from 26 different countries, representing the highest possible calibre in the World! Speakers, exhibitors and attendees socialized together at private breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches and dinner parties. After all, when taking all the trouble to go to a learning conference, you would want to meet all the experts who matter!

The organizers also ensured that high quality food and entertainment were laid on during coffee breaks, lunches and, of course, the Gala party. The attendees of the Anti-Ageing Conference are always vocal about their appreciation of the cuisine, the refreshments, and the presentations and of course the professionals themselves, all of which combined to create another unique, educational and sociable experience. Mark Babizhayev, Ph.D

Mark Babizhayev, Ph.D. is a bio-physicist and holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics and Pathophysiology. He has dedicated many years to scientific research, principally at the Helmholtz Research Institute of Eye Disease, in Moscow. During that time, he has accumulated over 86 published articles and also has 15 patents to his name. He is also a principle involved in the development of a breakthrough for the treatment and prevention of senile cataract. Specifically, Dr. Babizhayev presented for the first time to a western audience, the remarkable results of n-acetylcarnosine eye-drops to cure senile cataract within a 3-5 month period of time. Dr. Babizhayev's lecture was one of the keynotes of the conference.

Rick Cohen, MD

Rick Cohen, MD is a leading authority in the treatment of male hormonal imbalance and has considerable in-depth clinical and research experience. He has also been responsible in assisting the United States Senate on the safe promotion and the progressive use of dietary supplements, including, natural hormones and hormone precursors, all of which, have been shown to promote optimum male health and performance. Dr. Cohen elaborated on the need and role of prohormones for ageing men, and in a second lecture also elaborated on the role of estrogens in men, and why and how to control the elevation of increased estrogens, which accumulate from both the environment and with ageing.

Michael Fossel, MD, Ph.D.

Michael Fossel, MD, Ph.D. opened and closed the 3rd Monte Carlo Anti-Ageing Conference. He is the Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University and he is also the Editor of the Journal of Anti-Ageing Medicine and has dedicated many years to studying progeria and related accelerated ageing syndromes. He is convinced that the evidence from these diseases, together with the fact that germ cells and cancer cells do not age, indicates that ageing is a regulated process, that is, a function of gene expression, and not a function of 'wear and tear.' His elaboration about the role of telomeres and telomerase in cancer, ageing and longevity was well received, as was his announcement of the beginning of human clinical trials with telomerase inducers next year!

Garry Gordon, MD

Garry Gordon, MD is the President of the Gordon Research Medical Research Institute in Arizona. He is also the cofounder of the American College for Advancement in Medicine, one of the most progressive medical organizations in the United States and perhaps the world. Plus he is the President of the International College of Advanced Longevity Medicine. As an internationally recognized expert on chelation therapy, his lecture informed everyone on the essential need to remove toxic metals from our bodies. Metals are present in amounts far greater today than any of our forebears. Dr. Gordon's lecture went on to set the standards for the proper use of oral and intravenous chelation therapy as an adjunct therapy for all diseases.

Thierry Hertoghe MD

Thierry Hertoghe MD from Belgium, is one of Europe's leading professional advocates of Anti-Ageing Medicine. Having established an Anti-Ageing practice in Brussels, as well as the European Academy of Quality of Life and Longevity Medicine, and now assisting in the curriculum for the world's first post-graduate course, for physicians to graduate in Anti-Ageing Medicine, he is an extremely active individual. This energy was conveyed to the attendees in two lectures. The first was about one of the most potent and perhaps controversial hormones used today in Anti-Ageing Medicine- Human Growth Hormone. And the second was regarding the relationship of hair to hormones, in particular DHEA, HGH and thyroid. Dr. Hertoghe's long experience bought an almost 'how to' approach to his lectures.

Christopher Heward Ph.D.

Christopher Heward Ph.D., holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, a Masters degree in Anatomy and a Ph.D. in Biology. His endeavors have seen him form laboratories, biotech and nutritional companies and in 1997, he joined Dr. Stock at California's UCLA's School of Medicine and Technology Society, with the specific aim to study ageing and the possible interventions to delay the onset of degenerative diseases. Since 2000, he has held the position of Vice President of Research and Development at the Kronos Group. Dr. Heward informed us about the importance of bio-makers and laboratory testing in Anti-Ageing Medicine, in a lecture that was entitled; 'The use of biomarker measurement and laboratory testing in the practice of anti-ageing medicine.'

John Ionescu, Ph.D

John Ionescu, Ph.D., graduated in biochemistry and immunology and also holds a Ph.D. in medical biochemistry. His main research areas include the atopic diseases, psoriasis, arthritis and MCS-syndrome. His original diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and concepts have been reported in more than 100 scientific publications in Germany, Europe and the USA. Since 1986, he has been Medical Director of the special Neukirchen Clinic, near Munich, where he treats allergic and degenerative diseases, according to the principles of nutritional and environmental medicine. His current research involves the investigation of biological redox systems and free radical reactions in the skin. And that was the subject of his lecture which was entitled; 'The impact of the free radical theory of ageing on skin and potential therapies.'

Jennifer Krup, MD

Jennifer Krup, MD bought a feminine touch and over 23 years of experience with Anti-Ageing biomedical technology and she is board certified in Anti-Ageing Medicine. Having maintained her own private practice for the last 18-years in Virginia, USA and recently helped to establish the HB Health Clinic in Harley Street, London, she is very cognizant with the steps required to turn a general medical practice into an anti-ageing medicine specialty. And that was the subject of her lecture which was entitled; 'Incorporating anti-ageing medicine into your practice', and it was of great interest to those in the audience who wanted to establish, or expand, into an anti-ageing center. Dr. Krup's message was one of the 'nuts and bolts' of starting and running an Anti-Ageing Clinic.

Walter Pierpaoli, MD

Walter Pierpaoli, MD is the Research Director of the Neuroimmunomodulation Laboratory at the Italian National Research Center on Ageing. He is also the Scientific Director of the Jean Choay Institute for Biomedical Research, in Switzerland and President of the Interbion Foundation for Basic Biomedical Research. His extensive research into melatonin has been responsible for telling the world about its affects through international best-selling publications such as, The Melatonin Miracle. Dr. Pierpaoli's lecture was entitled; 'Resetting the pineal clock: Clinical results with melatonin,' and as-such, Dr. Pierpaoli bought up-to-date all his research with melatonin with his patients, all of which will be the subject of a future book.

Imre Zs.-Nagy, MD is Professor of Gerontology at Debrecen Medical University, in Hungary. He has published more than 250 papers, chapters and books about ageing and has given more than 300 scientific lectures about the ageing process. At the conference he was presented with the Monte Carlo Award for Excellence in Anti-Ageing Medicine by Princess Angela. As the developer of the hypothesis of the membrane theory of ageing and key anti-ageing pharmaceuticals, who better to talk on the subject? Dr. Zs.-Nagy's lecture was entitled; 'The membrane hypothesis of ageing in the light of the latest developments.'
