Dr Geoffrey Raisman has worked on the reinnervation of denervated
sites in the brain, and the control of synapse formation by sex hormones.
He
pointed out the strategic position of the olfactory ensheathing cells,
and showed that they can repair lesions of the corticospinal tract,
and upper cervical hemisections both structurally and functionally.
