2009 - IBS: Am I irritable or is it just my bowels?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a chronic condition of the digestive system and the most commonly diagnosed gastrointestinal complaint, largely presenting with abdominal pain or changes in bowel habit. A substantial proportion of the population are estimated to suffer from IBS and seek medical care. The focus of this talk will be to identify potential causes and aetiologies of IBS, recognize common IBS symptoms, raise awareness of the association between ageing and IBS, determine a diagnostic approach and broadly review the therapeutic options currently available and possibly in the future.
