Bio-identical Hormones: The
Evidence
As more women are prescribed bio-identical
hormones, there is a need to address the criticism that there is not
enough good data to support their use. Therefore in addition to understanding
the risks of synthetic hormones;
We need to understand the data that specifically
supports the safety and efficacy of bio-identical hormones.
In this presentation, we will present a
critical analysis of the available published data on bio-identical hormone
replacement. Topics will include the effects of bio-identical hormones
on the brain, bone, heart, skin, breast and uterus.
Available data will be presented on bio-identical
hormones and protection against osteoporosis, cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s,
stroke and heart disease. Also to be covered are the risks of bio-identical
hormones causing breast cancer, colon cancer, pulmonary embolism, stroke
and heart attack. Attendees will gain evidence-based knowledge on the
use of bio-identical hormones in women.
Note: The abstract describes the topics
to be covered but not the conclusions . Often the abstract describes
the conclusions. I am not prepared to state conclusions until I review
the data.
